Department of Health, Hospitals & Primary Care - Hospitals Nth, Launceston General Hospital (LGH) Location: LGH Charles Street, Launceston Region: North Application deadline: Sunday 14 September, :55 PM AEST Overview We are seeking Sterilising Department Technicians to work in the Operating Room Suite at the Launceston General Hospital.
Technicians are responsible for the identification of, handling, decontamination, packaging, sterilisation and dispatch of Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) distributed to the Operating Room Suite (ORS), internal wards and departments, and external customers.
Responsibilities Identify, handle, decontaminate, package, sterilise and dispatch Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs).
Distribute processed RMDs to the ORS, internal wards/departments, and external customers.
Review the Statement of Duties and address selection criteria as required by the vacancy notice.
Follow infection control principles applicable to the sterilisation department processes and procedures as guided by AS5369:2023 Standard.
Adhere to department policies and procedures and participate in multidisciplinary team activities.
Qualifications and experience Knowledge of, and experience in, sterilising technology and/or qualifications in, or willingness to undertake, a Sterilising Technology course.
Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of instruments/equipment processed in the sterilising department and to initiate appropriate action following decontamination and sterilisation protocols.
Knowledge of infection control principles applicable to sterilisation department processes and procedures.
Desirable criteria Holds or willingness to work towards the relevant qualification.
Appointment details Multiple permanent full-time and part-time, shift-work (set rotational) positions, up to 76 hours per fortnight.
Commencing as soon as you would like to join our team.
Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Salary: $67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata).
Employer 12% superannuation contribution applies.
Salary range is in accordance with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
