As a Solution Designer or Data Modeler, you'll be responsible for designing effective solutions that meet business requirements, optimize performance, and provide insights. To do this, you'll need to have a set of core skills that allow you to effectively model data, design systems, and analyze information.
- Data modeling: You should be able to design data models that effectively represent business requirements, adhere to industry standards, and optimize performance. This includes understanding different modeling techniques, such as ERD, UML, and dimensional modeling, as well as database design principles. Database management: You need to be proficient in managing databases, including data integration, normalization, denormalization, indexing, and querying. You should be familiar with common database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cloud Datawarehouse like GCP BigQuery and MySQL.
- Advanced SQL Knowledge
- Programming: You should have a good understanding of programming languages such as Java, Python, and R, and be able to write code to automate tasks and create custom solutions.
- Analytics and data visualization: You should be skilled in data analysis and visualization, and be able to create effective reports and dashboards that help stakeholders understand trends, patterns, and insights from data.
- Communication: You should have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You should also be able to collaborate effectively with team members and business partners.
- Problem-solving: You should be able to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions that meet business needs while optimizing performance, security, and scalability.
- Insurance Industry knowledge: You should have a good understanding of the industry in which you work, including relevant regulations, standards, and best practices. This includes staying up to date on emerging technologies and trends.
