**Position Information**:
Inner Sydney High School (ISHS), located on the corner of Cleveland and Chalmers Streets Surry Hills, next to Prince Alfred Park, will have the capacity for 1200 Years 7 - 12 students, starting with Year 7 students in 2020.

The unique design of the school with refurbished heritage buildings and flexible learning spaces is combined with a 14 level high rise with indoor and outdoor recreational areas. The school will be part of a dynamic and diverse educational precinct which is highly energised, engaged and connected. This rare opportunity will allow the successful applicant to work with the Principal and staff to establish this new high school on a historically significant site.

The school will have a focus on strong academic excellence with the delivery of outstanding teaching and learning programs. The innovative contemporary learning environment will support students to thrive and enjoy their learning. The school is located in walking distance from bus and train networks, however no on-site parking is available.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in the Careers Adviser qualifications approved by the New South Wales Department of Education (Refer special note below).
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of career pathways and processes required to support post school pathways, including traineeships, scholarships, VET courses and pathways.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
- A commitment to building goal based learning and skills to promote students ownership and capacity to plan, set and evaluate achievement toward goals in their own learning.
- Demonstrated ability to engage community agencies and groups and parents in authentic partnerships to build their understanding of all viable options for their child and the importance of high expectations and aspirations in education.
