We are seeking to establish a pool of Laboratory Technicians for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Bob Hawke College in Subiaco opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia. In 2025 we have over 2000 students from Year 7 – 12.

The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic, collaborative and detail focused Laboratory Technicians to join our college community.
As a laboratory technician you would support teaching and learning in Science by, preparing chemicals, equipment and materials for lessons, designing and constructing teaching aids and working closely with teachers to support classroom activities. In addition, you would manage laboratory stocks, including ordering of supplies, maintaining equipment and liaising with suppliers.
Suitable applicants will ideally have experience working within a science laboratory and a strong knowledge of secondary science subjects. Well-developed computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft OneNote and Teams is advantageous.
Beyond technical expertise, we are looking for laboratory technicians who thrive in a collaborative team environment. The suitable applicants should display strong interpersonal skills, including clear and respectful communication, the ability to share tasks and responsibilities, and a willingness to work towards collective goals. We value individuals who can contribute positively to team decision-making, manage conflicts constructively, are open to feedback and development and help build a supportive and professional workplace culture.

Demonstrated experience working within a science laboratory, including knowledge of laboratory techniques and relevant safety and legislative requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge of science subjects relevant to the curriculum taught in secondary schools and the ability to design and construct experiments and equipment to support curriculum requirements.
Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
Demonstrated well developed keyboarding and computer skills including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
