Software Engineer

Our business is growing, with some very exciting long-term projects. The company has recently been acquired by Battery Energy, and this acquisition is leading to even more exciting opportunities. As our business grows we are looking for a Software Engineer to join our small, but high performing team.

About the role

You will be part of a small but growing self-managed and self-organised Software Engineering team which values delivering outcomes to our customers. You will provide technical leadership, support junior developers, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver exceptional products.

This is a mid-level position requiring experienced professionals who can provide technical leadership and mentorship.

You will be responsible for:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using modern frameworks and technologies
• Architecting scalable and maintainable solutions with a focus on performance and security
• Collaborating with your immediate team members, the wider accesstel team, customers, and business partners to deliver high-quality software solutions
• Leading technical discussions and driving best practices in software development
• Reviewing code, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to a culture of continuous learning
• Ensuring software quality through unit testing, integration testing, and automation
• Staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues

Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Two (2) years plus of experience with web application development
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
• Strong experience with modern front-end frameworks/libraries such as React, Angular, or
• Strong proficiency in back-end technologies such as , Python, Ruby, or Java
• Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and microservices architecture
• Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Desirable:

• Experience working with small engineering teams
• Knowledge of web performance optimisation and accessibility standards
• Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, Mocha, or Cypress
• Knowledge of computer network engineering
• Knowledge of statistics and data science
• Knowledge of electrical and energy management systems
