The Role
The role of Youth Support Officer is to assist with processes that ensure a responsive and effective student support service. Under direction, they will collaborate and conduct discussions with staff, families and the community to identify and manage a case load of students at risk in collaboration with other members of the Student Services team.
As the Youth Support Officer, you will be expected to assist with the implementation of a range of school attendance strategies; attend and provide supporting information for team meetings, case conferences and other intervention processes; maintain information and record systems, and develop strategies. The successful applicant may also be required to participate in crisis management and response duties, and provide support for special projects across the college as required.
We are seeking an individual who is passionate and hardworking. This person will ideally possess the ability to build and maintain effective relationships quickly with all stakeholders. They should be energetic, motivated, and organised. The ability to work without supervision and work well within a team is desirable. The successful applicant should ideally be solutions focused and have the ability to problem solve and think ahead.

- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated negotiation, mediation and conflict resolutions skills with relevant experience working with students who require support.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within timelines.
