As an Engagement Officer, you'll play a key role in bringing NIAA's work program to life. You'll be part of a collaborative and high-performing team, supporting day-to-day operations, building strong relationships and driving continuous improvement. Your ability to juggle priorities, contribute to projects and connect meaningfully with stakeholders will be essential.

As an APS 5 Engagement Officer, you will:
• support the delivery of branch and team outcomes aligned with NIAA's strategic direction
• undertake procedural, administrative, and service-related tasks that contribute to business activities and project management
• build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, providers, and partners
• respond to enquiries and complaints with professionalism and cultural sensitivity
• contribute to a culturally safe and inclusive workplace, supporting strategies for working with diverse communities.
As an APS 6 Senior Engagement Officer, you will:
• build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, providers, and partners
• deliver work aligned with NIAA's Key Performance Measures and quality indicators
• support coaching and mentoring within the team, contributing to a positive and high performing culture
• provide technical and operational support, including interpretation of procedures and guidelines
• conduct research and analysis on matters within area of expertise
• analyse and evaluate information to inform decision-making and provide operational advice
• participate in forums and represent the team in collaborative engagements
• support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance team performance and service delivery.
A current Australian driver's license is a requirement of this role.

As the lead Commonwealth Agency for Indigenous Australians affairs, you will need to have an appreciation, awareness and understanding of matters relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities and be committed to strengthening your ongoing cultural competency.

• proven experience in leading small teams and delivering complex programs or initiatives
• strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, with the ability to navigate sensitive and complex environments
• a collaborative leadership style that fosters development, succession planning and high performance in a flexible and changing environment
• excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages and build trust across diverse audiences
• a high level of cultural awareness and demonstrated experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
