The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong expertise in financial lines and leadership skills, backed by proven experience in the insurance industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of market nuances, regulations, strategic development, underwriting, and risk management, ensure profitability while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and brokers.

Your new role:

This pivotal role will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to enhance our portfolio, drive profitability, and strengthen client relationships. The successful candidate will oversee product development, underwriting, and risk management across key financial lines.

You will:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Financial Lines division, ensuring alignment with QBE's objectives.
  • Lead a team of underwriters and specialists, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth whilst acting as a senior leader through entrepreneurial spirit and engagement
  • Drive profitable growth by identifying new business opportunities and optimising the existing portfolio and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and industry partners to enhance market presence.
  • Oversee underwriting guidelines, risk assessment, and pricing strategies to ensure sustainable profitability.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to keep the company ahead of market developments and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including actuarial, claims, and legal teams, to optimise product offerings and risk management.
  • Lead, adjust to and plan for financial performance, understanding P&L and Balance Sheets, and ensuring financial targets are managed and led

About you

You will have a unique combination of technical expertise, strategic vision, and robust leadership abilities to effectively manage and expand the financial lines insurance business. You will possess a profound knowledge of underwriting, risk management, and market trends to evaluate and mitigate complex financial risks. Having strong leadership skills will be crucial for team management and performance enhancement.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A proven track record in Financial Lines insurance, with substantial underwriting, broking, or risk management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop talent.
  • Deep understanding of financial lines products, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to drive innovation and business growth.
