Your Role

As the Human Resource Officer (HRO), you will play a key role in shaping the employee experience from first contact to onboarding and beyond. This is a highly relational role where your ability to connect with people, respond with empathy, and communicate clearly makes all the difference. You'll be the first impression many candidates have of our organisation—your warmth, professionalism, and responsiveness will reflect the values we live every day.

You'll partner closely with managers across our business units to understand their workforce needs and support them in attracting and retaining the right talent. Whether it's drafting engaging job ads, coordinating timely interviews, writing thoughtful communication to candidates, or facilitating a smooth onboarding experience, you'll take pride in delivering a service that balances care with efficiency.

This role also involves maintaining accurate records, coordinating training and compliance requirements, and contributing to a culture of inclusivity, support, and continuous improvement. You'll work hand-in-hand with the Business Development Manager and be supported by an experienced HR specialist as part of a collaborative, growth-focused team.

Some of the key tasks of this role include:

● Being the first point of contact for potential new employees, representing our values and approach.

● Coordinating end-to-end recruitment, from advertising to onboarding, with the support of our Business Development Manager.

● Drafting professional correspondence, including referee reports and candidate communication.

● Liaising with business unit managers to align recruitment with workforce plans.

● Conducting interviews and screening (particularly for YBL Independent Living) and provide hiring recommendations.

● Maintaining employee compliance records, training registers, and administrative systems.

● Supporting onboarding, offboarding, and training processes using platforms like Employment Hero and NGO Training.

You will be supported by an experienced HR specialist and work collaboratively across our five business units to deliver outcomes that put people before process.

● Desirable: HR or administrative experience—preferably in health, disability, or aged care settings.
