The Head of Quality Assurance & Compliance will lead the way in advancing safety and assurance methodologies across the entire business. Working within the wider team, this role will contribute to the ongoing delivery of existing solutions, championing the development of innovative safety initiatives and managing and expanding compliance.

This role will be responsible for defining compliance, safety and risk in our fast-paced business environment within a Chain of Responsibility (CoR) management and using a digital platform to meet regulatory standards and reduce risk. This includes accountability for ensuring that all operations comply with relevant laws, regulations and internal policies, including export controls, sanctions, and other compliance requirements

The Head of Quality Assurance & Compliance will work within best practice guidelines for the logistics and supply chain industry while applying informed insights, proactive risk management and advocating for and shaping the strategic direction of the business.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Understanding and applying regulations: staying informed and applying all relevant laws and regulations impacting operations, including those related to export controls, sanctions, customs procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Overseeing compliance programs: responsible for developing and implementing compliance programs that effectively address identified risks.
  • Monitoring and reporting: monitoring compliance with regulations, identifies potential issues and reports non-compliance with appropriate parties.

Internal Policies and Procedures:

  • Adherence to Code of Conduct: ensuring all team members adhere to the Code of Conduct, which covers ethical business practices, anti-corruption, and other compliance-related matters.
  • Maintaining records and documentation: keeping accurate records of compliance activities and documenting any non-compliance incidents.
  • Escalating Issues: identifying and escalating any issues or roadblocks to senior management when necessary.

Training and Awareness:

  • Developing and delivering training: providing training for team members on compliance matters, including export regulations, sanctions, and other relevant topics.
  • Promoting Compliance Culture: working to foster a culture of compliance across entire business.

Risk Management:

  • Identifying and Assessing Risks: identifying and assessing potential compliance risks across entire business.
  • Developing Mitigation Strategies: developing and implementing strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Monitoring and Evaluating Effectiveness: monitoring the effectiveness of compliance programs and making adjustments as needed.

Interfacing with External Parties:

  • Working with relevant stakeholders: collaborating with internal/external counsel on compliance-related matters.
  • Communicating with regulatory bodies: communicating with regulatory bodies and responding to inquiries.
  • Building Relationships with Stakeholders: building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, including customers and partners,
  • Provide data literacy and reporting capabilities across the business.

Qualifications/Attributes

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Safety, Engineering, or a related field (desired)
  • A sound understanding of Chain of Responsibility (essential)
  • A minimum of 3 years logistics/supply chain industry experience (essential)
  • Approximately 3 years' experience working in a safety/compliance/auditing role relating to transport and logistics.
  • The ability to analyse situations to identify the heart of problems and make recommendations of solutions.
