Primary objective

As a key member of the Sanderson High School Leadership and Management Team, the Senior Teacher – The Arts, Technologies, Health

and Physical Education / Year 7 coordinator provides curriculum and pastoral leadership across key learning areas and the secondary

years. The role ensures the effective design, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of learning programs while supporting staff and students

to achieve positive educational and wellbeing outcomes. The position includes coordination of Year 7 programs, leadership of The Arts,

Technologies, and Health and Physical Education Learning Teams, and oversight of Year 7 wellbeing, transition, the Duke of Edinburgh

Award, and School Sport Education initiatives.

Context statement

Sanderson High School is located in Malak and has an enrolment of 430 students. The school enrols Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 students from

the suburbs of Anula, Karama, Malak, Northlakes and Wulagi, but many students (including Intensive English students) come from further

afield.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake teaching responsibilities in accordance with school and departmental policies, ensuring the effective planning, delivery,

assessment and reporting of learning programs across the Arts, Health and Physical Education, and Technologies learning areas.

2. Lead and support staff in curriculum implementation, wellbeing, and behaviour management, and oversee the performance and

professional growth of team members.

3. Coordinate Year 7 programs including Social and Emotional Learning, wellbeing, celebration events, and transition from primary to

middle school, maintaining positive communication with parents and the wider school community.

4. Lead the organisation and delivery of whole-school sport and enrichment programs, including Camps, Sports Day, interschool

competitions, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

5. Manage learning area budgets, resources and events, and actively contribute as a member of the school's leadership team in alignment

with the School's Operational Plan and strategic directions.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Proven ability to effectively lead staff and teams to achieve positive educational outcomes, with particular focus on literacy, numeracy,

wellbeing, and engagement.

2. Demonstrated success in leading curriculum implementation and innovation across multiple learning areas, including The Arts, Health

and Physical Education, and Technologies.

3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and

community members in a secondary school environment.

4. Demonstrated capacity to manage administrative tasks including budgeting, performance development, reporting, event coordination,

and sports organisation.

5. Sound knowledge of the Curriculum and contemporary pedagogy as it applies to the Secondary Years of Schooling.

6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully in a cross-cultural environment.

Desirable

1. Knowledge of contemporary educational administration strategies.
