Primary objective

As an active member of the college leadership group, the year level coordinator is responsible for providing leadership to the

student cohort in all facets of student welfare that enables students to have the greatest opportunity for social, emotional and

academic success.

Context statement

Casuarina Senior College (CSC), is an independent public school, located in the Darwin northern suburbs. CSC has a student

enrolment of approximately 800 students, with 30 per cent identifying as Aboriginal. CSC caters for students in Years 10 to 12 by

offering a wide range of Stage 1 and 2 NTCET subjects.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide leadership that maximises student outcomes through the individual monitoring and tracking of curriculum completion,

engagement, attendance, and achievement.

1. Undertake duties related to student enrolment, curriculum counselling, timetabling, and development and implementation of

individual education pathways.

1. Actively contribute to student welfare solutions through engagement with parents, teachers, college welfare support staff and

relevant external agencies.

1. Initiate and coordinate events that develop the college values of respect, trust, responsibility, honesty, and high expectations

to build a positive and cohesive student cohort.

1. Provide College-wide leadership through active involvement in whole college decision making, planning and revision of

procedures. This is demonstrated through active involvement within the college leadership group.

1. Undertake a teaching load to deliver subjects.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to effectively use student data to maximise curriculum completion, engagement, attendance, and

achievement.

2. Demonstrated knowledge and application of DET policies and procedures relating to the provision of senior secondary

education.

3. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations, while developing and maintaining effective interpersonal

and cross-cultural relationships within and beyond a school community.

1. Proven knowledge and experience of student welfare and behaviour management strategies appropriate for a wide range of

students.

5. Demonstrated high level of written, and oral communication skills with a proven ability to apply negotiation and conflict

resolution skills.

working with children notice (Ochre card) from SAFE NT, prior to appointment.
