Reliability Engineer

*About the Role*
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the newly created position of *Reliability Engineer - Communications*. We are seeking applications from suitably experienced individuals who can drive asset performance improvement by implementing reliability and maintenance engineering principles, provide support to the maintenance crew on breakdowns and champion root cause analysis (RCA), FMECA, and system analysis. The incumbent will be responsible for asset data definition and have a key role in developing maintenance strategies for the new MPLS and LTE networks to support the future advanced rail operations such as the High-Capacity Signalling system. This senior role will also require a good understanding of the asset management framework and will develop the asset management plan, defining the asset life cycle requirements for a safe, reliable and consistent rail operation. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and sits within the Network & Infrastructure division. Experience with Ellipse Software is highly desirable.
*About You*
To be successful in this role you must have:
* A tertiary qualification in Electrical or Communication Engineering or equivalent with recognition or membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
* Proven experience in the maintenance and/or maintenance planning of Voice, Data, Radio, and LTE Mobile Communications Systems including CCTV Systems, Customer Information Systems and good knowledge of Communications Systems and Standards within a rail or similarly complex environment.
* Proven experience in providing engineering support in the planning, design, and delivery of maintenance and/or construction works in an operational asset-intensive environment.
* Proven experience in applying asset management frameworks and asset management strategy and substantial experience in applying safety management systems and knowledge of current Safety Legislation.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which permanent and fixed term appointments will be made with possibility of extension and/or permanency. There is one fixed term appointment available for an immediate start, to the 20 December 2026 with a possibility of extension and/or permanency.
