Our client is undergoing a major business transformation and is hiring a talented mid-level Lawyer (4-6 years' PQE) to play a pivotal role in supporting this exciting change.
This position sits at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation, providing clear, practical legal guidance across a modernising organisation that's committed to empowering people and improving outcomes for members.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract position initially until October 2026, with the potential to move to permanent thereafter.
The Opportunity
As part of the Legal & Compliance team, you'll work closely with key stakeholders across the business to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations underpinning our client's Scheme while helping to translate complex legal frameworks into accessible, plain-English advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, practical legal advice on a wide range of matters, including technology design and deployment, privacy, data governance, AI, cybersecurity, and statutory interpretation;
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of contracts and agreements, including supplier, technology procurement, and outsourcing arrangements;
- Support the development of internal policies and processes to strengthen compliance and risk management;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders — from executives to project teams — to deliver strategic legal insights that enable confident decision-making; and
- Manage and coordinate external legal counsel as required.
About You
You're a Lawyer with, ideally, 4-6 years' PQE experience from private practice, other similar in-house environments, or both. You are true generalist who is keen to challenge yourself on novel aspects of the law and the intersection between legal, technology and commercial.
You will bring:
- Relevant experience as an in-house counsel or with a reputable law firm (government or regulatory experience highly regarded);
- Strong knowledge of technology, privacy, administrative, and contract law; and
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills — with a focus on plain English legal writing.
