Position Title: Community Engagement & Fundraising Officer
Classification: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 – Social & Community Services Employee Level 4
Employment Type: Part-Time – 20 hours per fortnight (including some weekends and evenings)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer, Lake Macquarie & Newcastle Suicide Prevention Network
Location: Based at Evolve Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub, with community outreach across the Hunter and Lake Macquarie regions
Position Purpose
The Community Engagement & Fundraising Officer will lead and support community engagement, events, and fundraising activities that promote mental health awareness and strengthen community connection.
The role requires an energetic and vibrant individual who can represent the organisation at markets, festivals, and events; build relationships with partners and donors; and contribute creatively to LMNSPN's programs and promotional campaigns.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the sustainability and visibility of LMNSPN and its programs, including the Evolve Mental Health & Wellbeing Hubs and community wellbeing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Promotion
- Represent LMNSPN at community events, markets, expos, and partner activities.
- Operate the LMNSPN market stall, engaging with the public, sharing mental health resources, and promoting programs.
- Develop and deliver engagement strategies that promote positive mental health and help-seeking.
- Build and maintain partnerships with community groups, businesses, and service providers.
- Assist in the coordination of campaigns such as National Hope Week, Mental Health Month, Kahi Simon Fundraiser and other such events
Fundraising & Sponsorship
- Identify and develop fundraising opportunities, partnerships, and sponsorships.
- Coordinate small-scale fundraising events and community giving campaigns.
- Maintain donor databases, prepare reports, and support grant and sponsorship applications.
- Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, signage, and promotional content.
Project & Event Delivery
- Support the planning, setup, and delivery of LMNSPN events and wellbeing programs.
- Coordinate and liaise with venues, suppliers, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.
- Assist with event logistics, safety, and evaluation.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of engagement and fundraising activities.
- Contribute to data collection, social media updates, and post-event reporting.
- Support internal communication and collaboration across LMNSPN programs.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, events coordination, or fundraising roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an engaging and energetic approach.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver events and campaigns with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of, or commitment to, mental health promotion and suicide prevention.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.
- High level of professionalism, flexibility, and willingness to work weekends or evenings as required.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check, Police Check, and unrestricted driver's licence.
Desirable
- Experience in marketing, communications, or partnership development.
- Qualification in community services, communications, or event management.
- Understanding of local community networks within the Hunter and Lake Macquarie regions.
Employment Details
- Award: SCHADS Award 2010 – Social & Community Services Stream
- Level: 4
- Pay Rate (as of July 2025): $41.52 per hour + 11.5% superannuation
- Hours: 20 hours per fortnight (flexible roster; includes some weekend and evening work)
- Tenure: Fixed-term or ongoing (to be confirmed)

The Lake Macquarie & Newcastle Suicide Prevention Network (LMNSPN) is a volunteer-led, community-based organisation dedicated to suicide prevention, mental health promotion, and building community resilience.
Through initiatives such as Hope Week, Community Kickstart, and the Evolve Mental Health & Wellbeing Hubs, LMNSPN fosters connection, reduces stigma, and promotes help-seeking behaviours.
The Community Engagement & Fundraising Officer plays a vital role in strengthening LMNSPN's reach, sustainability, and community impact.
