Part Time Tax Accountant

15-20 hours per week with potential to transition into a full-time role.

Small and growing accounting practice is looking for a tax accountant to join our team in a part time role. We offer a supportive and collaborative workplace with a commitment to professional development.

Job tasks and responsibilities

·       Preparation of all types of tax returns

·       Perform bank and account reconciliation

·       Assist with payroll processing and superannuation obligations

·       Maintain accurate records in accounting software (eg., Xero, MYOB, Reckon)

·       Posting of entries in MYOB, Reckon and Xero

·       Preparation of BAS, IAS and Reconciliation

·       Prepare Financial Statements and Client Reports

·       Tax compliance work and dealing with the ATO

·       Various other tasks as required

Qualifications and experience

  • Diploma or degree in accounting
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience preparing tax returns and financial statements
  • Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures
  • Understanding of Australian taxation requirements and compliance regulations
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy
  • Proficiency in MYOB and Xero accounting software is desirable
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong alignment to the organizational values & ethics.
  • Must be an Australian permanent resident or permanent residency
  • Has a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems and processes
  • Strong working knowledge of tax planning, GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
