Kirrawee High School, located in the Sutherland Shire, has a strong tradition of excellence in academics, arts, sports, and languages. With almost 60 years of history, the school offers a broad curriculum and co-curricular activities, emphasising music, sports, student leadership, social justice, languages, and public speaking/debating. The school has 1190 enrolments, 90 teaching staff, and 24 non-teaching staff, with 11% of teachers in their early careers. Students come from 33 nationalities, with 7% speaking a language other than English at home and 2% identifying as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander. The school is proud to host 3 Autism Support Classes. The Strategic Improvement Plan aims to maximize student learning outcomes, enhance staff pedagogical skills, and nurture student wellbeing, with a focus on HSC performance and differentiated learning.
Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, applicants are expected to demonstrate:
- Educational leadership through the effective management of whole-school administrative processes (staff relief, timetabling, examination scheduling, reporting, and variations to routine) to ensure continuity of learning.
- Visibility and proactive leadership, underpinned by highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the proven ability to build trust, collaboration, and staff confidence across the school community.
- Expertise in administrative systems and technologies (including Sentral, School Bytes, Edval, SAP and NESA Schools Online) to support equitable, efficient, and transparent school operations.
- Capacity to drive innovation and continuous improvement in administrative practices, ensuring they evolve to enhance staff wellbeing, organisational effectiveness, and student learning outcomes.
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
