Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Playscapes Team Leader to join our FIFO team. This role is hands-on and involves travelling to various project sites across different locations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction, enjoy working directly on-site and take an active role in building playscapes and outdoor play structures while leading a team to achieve the highest quality outcomes.

As a Playscapes Team Leader you will be directly involved in the construction process from start to finish guiding your team while overseeing the build of nature play spaces, playgrounds and other outdoor recreational structures. This role offers variety and an opportunity to work on exciting diverse projects across different sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead by example and supervise a hands-on team in the construction of playscapes and outdoor play spaces including decking, forts, bush huts, water play features, rocks, logs and other installations.
• Directly construct playground elements such as modular playgrounds, decking, paving, and various play features.
• Oversee excavation, sub-base preparation and mixing of concrete ensuring all groundwork is executed to the required standards.
• Use a laser level and other construction tools for precise laying of decking, paving and other hardscaping elements.
• Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest construction and safety standards.
• Work hands-on with the team to complete tasks efficiently while also providing guidance and leadership throughout the process.
• Coordinate closely with project managers, designers and clients to ensure clear communication and successful project delivery.
• Oversee daily operations on-site including resource allocation, equipment management and enforcing safety protocols.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits ensuring compliance with all safety, construction and operational standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues during project execution to maintain smooth progress.
• Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used and team performance.
• You must be able to confidently read and interpret site plans to ensure that the construction process is executed accurately and according to specifications.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in construction, building or similar hands-on roles.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to work directly on-site and guide a team.
• In-depth knowledge of construction techniques including foundations, structural builds and the installation of outdoor play features.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet to resolve any site issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead a team and coordinate with clients and management.
• A solid commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
• Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g. White Card, Manual License, Blue Card for working with children) are needed.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel to various project sites as required.
