We are seeking a passionate, creative, engaging, professional and highly motivated English Teacher for a full-time ongoing position commencing from the start of the 2026 school year.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Year 11 & 12 ATAR English classes as well as a variety of lower school English classes and electives such as Creative Writing and Debating.

As an English educator, you will have a proven ability to engage and inspire students. As a city-based school it will be important for you to incorporate a range of opportunities for students to explore their learning beyond the classroom to bring their learning experiences to life. All St George's Teaching Staff actively view the 'city as our campus'.

There is an expectation that the successful applicant would participate fully in the life of the School. This includes being involved in our diverse co-curricular program, attending a year group camp where we work with Growth Hunting to offer a bespoke camp curriculum to our students and act as a Pastoral Care Tutor within our House Based system.

Our hope is to attract an experienced English Teacher who will be able to bring their spark, enthusiasm, creativity and passion to our inner-city school and dedicated students; however, a newly qualified graduate achieving a distinction in their final teaching practicum is also encouraged to apply. A newly qualified graduate would be given full support to fulfil the demands of the role by a highly experienced English Department Team.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

• Relevant teaching qualifications and experience
• Extensive knowledge of teaching strategies to achieve optimal learning outcomes for students across Years 7 – 12.
• Year 11 and 12 ATAR English teaching experience.
• The ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a supportive and collaborative school culture.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of SEQTA and SEQTA Analyse.
• The capacity to differentiate material to cater for a variety of different learning needs within the classroom.
• The ability to successfully integrate technology into everyday teaching, learning and planning.
• A willingness to adhere to the School's Child Safe Policy and practices is essential.
• A keen desire to contribute to the broader life of the school, including offering an interesting and thought provoking co-curricular activity is both beneficial and desirable.
