Sydney CBD, New South Wales, Australia Response Centre Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year

We are a privately owned Australian company that has a head office in the Sydney CBD and multiple branches around Australia. The main industry we deal in is within water related fields.

We are restructuring our Finance team after a recent acquisition and are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Accounts Payable person to our team to bring financial AP oversight and AP audit capabilities to our Head office finance team. The role will have a strong focus on accounts payable reconciliation and process optimisation, as well as end of month/year functions.

The role is based in the Sydney CBD office and reports to the Commercial Manager. There is some flexibility in perhaps 1-2 days WFM after the person settles into the role and can demonstrate their AP competence.

The overall duties include:

  • Perform end-to-end accounts payable processing and reconciliation

  • Assist with year-end AP close and reporting

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure accurate and timely payments

  • Support the optimisation of AP automation tools

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for audit and compliance

The type of candidate we are looking for is someone with:

  • A great deal of Accounts Payable experience, or formal Accounting qualifications

  • Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and AP best practices

  • Strong reconciliation skills and a problem-solving mindset

  • Experience working with ERP systems and AI-powered AP automation solutions (eg RapidAP)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) to at least an intermediate level

The AP team is spread out across Australia so you will need good communication and organisational skills to have oversight of what is occurring in branches and ensuring compliance with corporate finance and audit standards.

The role is Monday to Friday, normal office hours with a slight degree of flexibility in start or finish times. After you have been through training and proven your expertise in AP there is the potential to work 1-2 days a week from home.

The business has grown successfully over the years and has a very dedicated and driven management team and a reputation for excellent products and services.

So if you want to work with an Australian business that is growing and has a bright future, apply now.
