About the Role

Tenure: Fixed-term 12 month with possibility of extension or permanency.

Are you a sharp legal mind ready to make a strategic impact? Corporate Services is the backbone of our agency—delivering the infrastructure, expertise, and legal insight that empowers every team to thrive. Now, we're looking for a talented legal professional to help shape the future of Western Australia's governance and policy.

As part of our high-performing legal team, you'll provide expert advice across a wide range of matters—from contract negotiation and statutory interpretation to complex litigation and legislative consultation. You'll work closely with the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, supporting high-level legal strategy, managing external counsel, and liaising with senior stakeholders including the State Solicitor's Office and the Minister's Office.

This role is your opportunity to influence policy, draft critical legal documents, and ensure compliance with legislative frameworks that drive the State's strategic goals. You'll be at the heart of decision-making, helping to navigate complex legal terrain with clarity, confidence, and integrity.

We're seeking someone with a law degree and admission to legal practice in WA, backed by experience in in-house counsel roles and a strong grasp of commercial law, litigation, and government processes. If you're a strategic thinker with exceptional communication skills, a passion for public service, and the ability to lead with autonomy and professionalism—this is your moment.
