We are looking for a warm, motivated and culturally grounded Human Resources – Generalist (0.8 FTE with flexible hours) to join our team. This role is more than policies and processes, it's about supporting our people, creating a safe workplace and helping our organisation grow in a way that reflects our culture and values.
About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist will play an important role in supporting our people and ensuring our workplace is safe, inclusive, and culturally strong. This role is hands on and varied, covering the full employee journey from recruitment and onboarding through to wellbeing, OH&S and professional development.
You will work closely with the HR team, managers, staff and members across the organisation to make sure HR systems are effective, processes are culturally safe, and our people feel supported and valued. This is a role for someone who enjoys variety, problem solving, and being part of a values driven Aboriginal organisation.
In this role you will:
• Support staff and managers with a wide range of generalist HR needs
• Help ensure OH&S compliance, risk management and safe work practices
• Build and support culturally safe processes that respect self determination
• Provide day to day HR and administrative support across the organisation
Key responsibilities
• Coordinate recruitment and selection, ensuring recruitment is cultural safety and aligned with organisational policies and procedures
• Support onboarding and induction, including preparation of contracts, paperwork and welcoming processes
• Maintain accurate HR records, files, and compliance documentation
• Provide payroll and HR support, employee assistance program (EAP) coordination, and assist with professional development scheduling
• Assist with OH&S compliance, risk assessments, incident reporting, Workcover claims, and workplace safety initiatives
• Work closely with managers and staff to embed fair and culturally safe workplace practices
• Support programs and initiatives that enhance staff wellbeing, safety, inclusion, and connection
• Assist in resolving staff concerns, complaints and grievances in a timely, respectful and culturally appropriate way
About You
We are looking for someone who not only brings HR experience but also cares deeply about people and culture.
• You have HR qualifications or sound experience in a generalist HR role
• You understand OH&S and safe workplace practices
• You can juggle recruitment, contracts, payroll support, and employee wellbeing with confidence
• You are a respectful communicator who values culture, inclusion and integrity
• You are organised, have attention to detail, and can manage competing deadlines
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, and experience in Employment Hero would be advantageous
• You have an understanding of payroll and HR administration
