Bumble Bean Chocolates is a specialty chocolatier and café combining high‑quality artisan chocolate production with a premium café experience. We pride ourselves on craftsmanship, creativity, and excellent customer service.

The business is looking for a Cafe Manager to manage the day to day operations, ensuring both the cafe and the chocolate production sides run smoothly.

The successful candidate should be able to drive quality, profitability, team performance and support growth while maintaining the brand's standards and values.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all operational aspects: opening/closing procedures, inventory, ordering supplies, stock control, production scheduling for chocolates, café operations.
• Manage and mentor staff: hiring, rostering, training, performance reviews, ensuring a positive team culture.
• Quality control: ensure all chocolate and café products meet high standards in consistency, presentation, and taste.
• Menu development & innovation: working with pastry/chocolate chef input to develop new products, seasonal offerings.
• Health, safety, hygiene, and compliance: ensure food safety standards, cleanliness, regulatory compliance.
• Customer service excellence: handle feedback, ensure high satisfaction, maintain café ambience.
• Financial management: budget planning, cost control (food cost, labor cost, waste), monitoring sales and KPIs.
• Marketing & promotions: collaborate or lead local marketing efforts, social media, promotions, events.

Essential skills and experience

• Significant hospitality/café management experience (including supervising teams, managing both front‑ and back‑of‑house operations).
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving, communication and people management skills.
• Good financial literacy: comfortable with budgeting, cost control, forecasting.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and relevant NT regulatory requirements.
• Creative mindset, with an eye for detail in product presentation and café experience.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, sometimes fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing demands.

Desirable criteria

• Local residency or familiarity with the Darwin/NT region.
• Pastry chef/chocolatier background desirable, preferably with experience in artisan chocolate or pastry production.
• Passion for chocolate, dessert, pastry arts.
• Strong aesthetic and design sense (presentation, product display).
• Competency with POS systems, scheduling software.
• Experience in small business/start‑ups is a plus.

Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Saturday 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
