ABOUT US

The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd has commenced construction with production planned of up to 8 million tonnes of coal per annum. With a long life, the underground mine targets high quality coal, with the majority being metallurgical coal.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Opportunities are now open for Maxwell Underground Mine's 2026 Electrical and Mechanical first year Apprentices. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical and Senior Electrical Engineer's, the ideal candidates will have a can-do attitude, hands-on approach, and be prepared to effectively contribute to the overall success of the organisation.

If you are the successful applicants, you will:

  • Develop your knowledge and experience as a tradesperson by completing all aspects of formal, and inform, training associated with the Apprenticeship.
  • Apply learnt knowledge and skills gained through training to enhance reliability, serviceability and availability of mining equipment in the longwall, development and outbye process areas.
  • Actively contribute to a safe work environment though hazard identification, incident reporting and housekeeping.
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Engineering Team by developing into a high performing tradesman.

ABOUT YOU

  • Completion of schooling to Year 10, or equivalent
  • Sound computer and communication skills
  • A genuine interest in a Mechanical or Electrical Trade
  • Successful completion of a Certificate II Pre-Apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical would be advantageous.
