About the role:
The Market Development Advisor ensures an efficient and effective project and planning function that supports the interactions between DSD and the Middle East, North Africa and India trade and investment offices to facilitate export and investment initiatives for the State.
The role will work in collaboration with staff of the South Australian trade and investment offices in the Middle East, North Africa and India, DSD international staff, departmental sectorial experts and key stakeholders across government and business to facilitate the development and implementation of strategies and activities that drive trade and investment opportunities between South Australia and the Middle East, North Africa and India.
As a Market Development Advisor, you will:
- Ensure high level research, analysis and expert consultancy advice is delivered in collaboration with the overseas offices to improve the State's engagement with the Middle East, North Africa and India regions, and to build South Australian industry, corporate investment and trade opportunities with these markets.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key business, industry associations and relevant business chambers, Federal, state and local government stakeholders ensuring management is conducted in a culturally appropriate manner, including consultation, negotiation and liaison with key stakeholders.
- Develop, plan and coordinate process improvement and program management initiatives, ensuring projects are professionally managed and delivered on time and within budget, ensuring regular, accurate and reliable reports on the status of programs and project progress are prepared and provided to management within established timeframes.
- Conduct research and analysis of complex market intelligence and administration of governance, management and reporting functions.
- Develop and deliver high quality complex and sensitive reports, briefings and Ministerial responses relating to programs, projects and future directions and risks to South Australia on our engagement with the Middle East, North Africa and India markets.
Key Competencies:
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
- Demonstrate significant knowledge of the Middle East, North Africa, India. and South Australian economies and emerging issues, policies, programs, principles, practices and factors affecting economic and business growth, innovation, viability and sustainability
- Demonstrate and maintain up to date knowledge of contemporary project management practices and government administrative policies and processes including budget, procurement, information and records management
- Proven ability to apply high level communication and interpersonal skills including recognising and considering stakeholder agendas, cultural and values differences, addressing these in negotiations and incorporating into building understanding and making final decisions
- Demonstrated ability to determine priorities, allocate time and resources accordingly, effectively utilise team skills and knowledge to meet timelines and achieve shared objectives.
Remuneration:
Competitive salary ASO6 $98,478 to $104,165 p.a. plus superannuation
