Chimaera Capital's trading division has a multi-decade track record of delivering enhanced returns to clients. The Australian equities team is seeking to strengthen its support team with the addition of a back office role focused on the timely processing of daily activities.

Job Summary

The Back Office Associate is responsible for supporting the post-trade process, including trade reconciliation, and record-keeping. This role supports the accurate and timely processing of securities transactions, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective coordination with front office and middle office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliation of trade positions, cash balances, and accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies between internal records and external reports.

  • Reporting: Assist with the reporting of transactions and compliance with internal policies and procedural requirements including exception handling: investigations.

  • Data Management:  Assist with the maintenance of accurate trade records and data integrity measures.

  • Process Improvement: Assist with the identification of opportunities to streamline back office processes and reduce operational risks.

Qualifications

Experience: minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and basic accounting, preferably in financial services. Previous experience in back-office operations, trade support, or settlements preferred but not essential.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal stakeholders.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, or other data analysis tools is a plus.

Work Environment

  • Office-based and includes regular interaction with trading systems and internal stakeholders.
