About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced AUSLAN Key Worker to join our team at Uconnex Community Services' in Bendigo, VIC on a fixed-term casual contract. In this vital role, you will provide essential disability support services to our clients, leveraging your expertise in AUSLAN to ensure effective communication and engagement.
What you'll be doing
- Deliver high-quality disability support services to clients, with a focus on assisting those with hearing impairments through the use of AUSLAN
- Facilitate communication between clients, their families, and our broader support team using AUSLAN
- Collaborate with allied health professionals to develop and implement individualised support plans for clients
- Advocate for client needs and ensure they have access to the resources and services required
- Maintain detailed client records and documentation in line with organisational and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our disability support services through feedback and innovation
- Provide training for the team who is working with hearing impairment client
What we're looking for
- Formal qualification in AUSLAN interpretation or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated experience providing disability support services, with a strong focus on assisting individuals with hearing impairments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, families, and allied health professionals
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to person-centred care
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures governing the disability support sector
- A current Australian driver's licence and the ability to travel within the local region as required
- Friendly with pets
