About the Role

Peak Downs is located in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.

We are currently recruiting experienced Shotfirers to work a 7/7-day shift only roster.

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor you will be responsible for:

  • Supervise and assist blast crews in setting up, loading, tying-in, and firing of blasts.
  • Manage explosives magazines and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and secure blast areas before detonation.
  • Follow drill and blast designs and ensure accurate execution.
  • Inspect post-blast areas for safety, including checking for misfires, fumes, and rockfalls.
  • Maintain accurate blast documentation and reports.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors, and engineers.

About You

The successful candidate will possess on or more of the following skills:

  • A genuine commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication skills and a track record of achieving results through influence.
  • Current blast crew experience with significant open-cut mining experience (minimum 3 years).
  • QLD explosive security clearance and Shotfirers Licence mandatory (preferably with the monitor and control the effects of blasting on the environment competency).
  • Experience with digishot, nonel and det cord initiation highly regarded.
  • HR/MR, High risk/forklift, loader, stem truck, MPU and skid steer highly regarded.
  • Leadership courses, S1, 2,3 & G2 also highly regarded.
  • Passion for continuous improvement to drive individual and team performance.
