Development Pipeline Engineer

The role
As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Development Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, deployment, test and documentation of the development pipelines, toolchain, development tools and build/deployment infrastructure, supporting Naval Combat Systems projects with the 9LV CMS computing platform in Australia and worldwide, in collaboration with the global 9LV Pipeline and Platform.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Participate in close collaboration with the global Pipeline team and evolve the 9LV pipeline product effectively and in line with the global product while meeting the needs of the local 9LV CMS projects and software developers.
- Plan, prioritise and deliver assigned tasks within the agreed scope, and schedule.
- Design and implement new pipeline capabilities.
- Develop and evolve the existing development pipelines, toolchain and development tools.
- Deploy and maintain local instances of the 9lv development pipeline including build and deployment infrastructure.
- Implement cyber security best practices in the development pipeline, toolchain, development tools and build/deployment infrastructure and take action to identify and mitigate identified security vulnerabilities.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders and the international Pipeline team.
- Support virtual reference site infrastructure and maintenance.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About You
Your skills and experience will include:
Essential
- Experience with the products, development environment and the tools used to develop software
- Significant experience in software integration, continuous integration/delivery, test automation and DevOps tools and workflows covering technologies such as Jenkins and Robot Framework
- Experience with configuration management and automatic deployment tools such as Ansible
- Significant experience with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker and vSphere
- Experience in producing and reviewing technical documentation
- Significant experience with Linux
- Experience in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Go
- Broad understanding of technology and technology trends
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions
- Ability to work independently
Desirable
- Exposure to at least one software development lifecycle model in a formal engineering environment, preferably defence
- Experience in monitoring, logging and analytic tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana
- Experience with developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with VMWare vSphere deployment
- Experience with network architecture and design
- Experience with the Atlassian tool suite including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Fisheye, Crucible
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV2 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
