Senior Communications Advisor
- $133,944 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Full time, fixed term opportunity until 7th July 2026
- Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (hybrid working - 3 days a week in office)
About the opportunity
At WorkSafe Victoria, we are dedicated to creating healthier and safer workplaces for all Victorians. Our Corporate & Internal Communications team plays a pivotal role in this mission by supporting the organisation through strategic and tactical communications.
We're now looking for a Senior Communications Advisor to join our high-performing, values-driven team in this fixed term opportunity.
As a Senior Communications Advisor, you'll drive the planning and execution of communication strategies that support WorkSafe's corporate objectives. You'll draft speeches, presentations and corporate communications for external audiences on behalf of the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Minister for Workplace Safety. You'll create and deliver internal communication campaigns, manage internal channels and continually look to enhance the way WorkSafe communicates to its employees.
You'll manage reputational issues and work across different channels and formats to deliver clear, consistent, and effective messaging in a dynamic, high-profile environment.
Key accountabilities include:
- Develop and implement strategic communications plans, programs and campaigns
- Write compelling speeches, scripts, editorials, social media posts and presentations for senior executives and government stakeholders
- Provide expert communications advice to leaders across the organisation
- Support internal communications through engaging intranet content and staff engagement initiatives
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders to ensure message alignment and business impact
- Contribute to WorkSafe events with end-to-end communications support, including MC notes, video scripts, booklets, and more
- Identify and manage communication risks, opportunities, and reputational issues proactively
- Help evolve and improve our communication tools, channels and culture across the organisation

About you
You're a strategic thinker, confident communicator, and experienced advisor with a strong ability to influence, engage and inspire. You bring clarity to complexity, know how to craft messages that cut through, and can work seamlessly with everyone from executive leaders to project teams.
You also bring:
- Significant experience in a communications role, ideally in a complex issues-rich environment
- Exceptional writing skills, particularly in speechwriting and executive communications
- Proven ability to develop and deliver effective multi-channel communications strategies
- Strong relationship-building, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and background in intranet publishing systems & videography
- A tertiary qualification in Communications, PR or a related field
