We are seeking cooks & chefs to join us at The Marina, in Casual positions. We are seeking staff to work either regularly or just a few days a month through summer.

The Venues

The Marina Mindarie, is home to multiple venues including The Boat, Indian Ocean Brewing Company, Pavilion Function Center, Cabana & Lifeboat. We are seeking cooks & chefs to hit the ground running in what is a very exciting opportunity. We love what we do and want you to share the same enthusiasm

The pay rate is based on the HIGA Award, depending on your training level.

About you

You will have a combination of skills that encompass attention to detail and be able to cook in all sections of the kitchen, as well as a creative mind. You will have a sense of urgency and work well in a team environment.

  • Have the ability to work within a busy kitchen and adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations during food handling and cooking.
  • Excellent attention to detail and enjoys working to high standards.
  • Able to take direction and work alongside Sous Chefs and the Executive Chef; including monitoring inventory levels and placing orders for necessary ingredients and supplies; creatively developing new dishes and experimenting with flavours to keep the menu fresh
  • Work as a team and have great communication with both BOH & FOH teams, by collaborating with other kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation efficiently and communicating with FOH to ensure smooth food delivery to customers

About the role

  • Preparation and service of food in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are functional and cleaned daily.
  • Ensure all food is stored, prepared, cooked and presented in line with standards set by the head chef.
  • Ensures the highest standards and consistent quality in the daily preparation, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and trends.
  • Support the head chef with all menu production, planning and implementation

Skills & experience

  • Must have previous experience in a kitchen.
  • Have experience working under pressure.
  • Live within a comfortable distance from The Marina and must have own transport
