What's the role?
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Network Automation Engineer to become part of the Secure Network Services (SNS) team within Westpac's Technology division. The appointed individual will work closely with the Automation Community of Practice (ACoP), subject matter experts in networking, and engineering, build, and operations teams.
The primary responsibility is to advance automation capabilities that enable efficient delivery of rapid catalogue services aligned with established SLAs and KPIs. A thorough understanding of service definitions, including their scope and constraints, is essential. The engineer will collaborate with SMEs to architect and implement a scalable automation framework for use across SNS.
What do I need?
We are seeking a candidate who demonstrates a passion for developing robust, reusable automation solutions and has a strong interest in integrating and optimising systems through scripting and tool interoperability. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
- Experience with Ansible (Tower, AWX, Red Hat AAP).
- Capability to develop custom Ansible modules and plugins.
- CI/CD expertise with Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.
- Competency in using Git for version control.
- Familiarity with Terraform, OpenShift, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with MongoDB (preferred).
- Prior experience in network automation (preferred).
- Ability to integrate automation solutions with APIs and external platforms.
