Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, the Leading Hand Plant Mechanic will join our Regional Team on a Residential or FIFO basis at our Newman branch. This role involves leading and motivating a crew of up to 10 employees. You will promote and encourage high safety standards and a positive, can-do attitude. Additionally, you will assist in training team members and work alongside them, while managing and handling high-volume work efficiently.
Department Overview: Newman Branch look after the East Pilbara, from small construction equipment to large mining machines.
Roster: 14 On, 7 Off – Days – 12 hrs/day
What You'll Do:
- Lead and motivate a crew of up to 10 employees
- Promote and encourage high safety standards and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Assist in training team members and work alongside them.
- Manage and handle high-volume work efficiently.
Skills & Experience:
- Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- Exposure to mining, construction equipment, or other industrial areas such as agriculture, highway trucks, or hire equipment.
- Experience with CAT equipment
- Team leadership experience with a strong emphasis on safety.
- Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
- Strong understanding of KPI metrics
