JBS Australia is the largest and most respected meat and food producer in Australia. We have a strong portfolio of leading and renowned beef, lamb, pork, salmon and value-added branded products, such as AMH, Swift, Primo, Murray Valley and Huon.

 Located 35km west of Toowoomba, the JBS Beef City Plant is part of the Beef City integrated feedlot, processing and farming facility. The cattle are walked from the feedlot to the plant, minimising stress and transportation costs, while simultaneously improving eating quality – one of only two in southern hemisphere. Specialising in grain-fed beef production, the plant employs approximately 950 employees with a current processing capacity of approximately 1000 cattle per day and has a strong reputation for producing high quality grain fed beef for key domestic and international customers.

 About the Role

The JBS Beef City Plant is currently recruiting an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our busy Maintenance Team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with optional overtime on Saturdays where available. Our conditions of employment are one of the best in the industry

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring maximum equipment uptime is achieved by providing effective and efficient mechanical preventative and breakdown maintenance
  • Engaging in fabrication, installation and repair of mechanical machines, instruments or appliances
  • Ensuring that all work is carried out to the Company and requirements and conforms to all relevant regulations
  • Utilising fault-finding to troubleshoot and rectify problems

 Remuneration

1st year of service:

  • Day shift: $1,885.31 / week

After 1st year of service:

  • Day shift: $1,932.69 / week

 About You

  • Qualified Mechanical Fitter.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience within the meat industry advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics, as well as a basic knowledge of electrics and welding skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement approach.
  • Ability to support a broad variety of mechanical work.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work various shifts.
  • Full Australian working rights.
