The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world.

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

To lead electromechanical installations on a complex hydropower construction project. The role is critical in ensuring effective coordination between civil, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic trades, and in monitoring and maintaining the construction programme to meet project milestones and quality standard.

To ensure the successful delivery of the project within the required constraints for time, cost, quality, safety, environment and the community. Resolve issues that may arises during construction whether they are related to scheduling, safety or resource allocation. Provide regular reports for the monitoring of the site installation activities and proposed corrective actions where needed to recover and minimize risks of schedule delays.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary Qualifications or related discipline such as, Mechanical/Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • Proven work experience in construction management or similar roles
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and technical documentation
  • strong communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve are essential for the role
  • Excellent coordination, leadership, and communication skills

Experience:

  • At least 10 years' Experience in construction operations of similar scale with a proven focus on quality outputs in a timely manner
  • Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
  • Strong understanding of hydropower construction phases including civil works, M&E installation, and commissioning
  • Understanding of current and relevant health and safety regulations, good industry practice and engineering standards
  • Understanding of quality plans and Inspection Test Plans for electromechanical works, HVAC and MEP Engineering.
  • Proficiency in planning, executing, and overseeing projects to completion on time
  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6)
  • Good understanding of contractual frameworks and budgeting
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and multi-trade coordination
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines

Required Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise English
  • Financial Management, ability to understand budgets and forecasts
  • WHS – risk assessment, legislative compliance
  • Skills in construction method development and subsequent programming
  • Contract comprehension, commercial awareness and ability to develop substantiated claims
  • Strong understanding of hydropower construction phases including civil works, M&E installation, commissioning and steel structures
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Must work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
  • Respectfully takes direction and adheres to feedback from managers
  • Working experience managing site engineers and supervisors.
  • Able to resolve problems and to implement improvements in construction processes
  • Maintain communication between project managers, site staff, and employer
  • Ability to monitor progress of work and proactively review the installation schedule

  • Coordinate daily work schedule and coordinate installation activities
  • Document and report progress to managers and stakeholders

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper sequencing of works to avoid clashes and delays, especially in critical areas such as powerhouse, penstock installation, and intake structures
  • Manage and schedule subcontractors and trades to ensure seamless workflow and avoid conflicts
  • Review construction methods
  • Facilitate daily briefings and coordination meetings to align all site activities
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
  • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications of Mechanical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and inspections
  • Oversees project closeout
  • Coordinate and manage Subcontractor's installation activities
  • Coordinates with personnel in other departments, project managers and client personnel to review constructability of design and installations and resolve areas of concern
  • Devise and evaluate alternatives to determine the most cost-effective solutions
  • Contribute to regular project meetings, communications and reports to the project manager and/or principal, which provide accurate and timely information to support their understanding of strategic risks, issues, opportunities, impacts and progress
  • Attend regular meetings with Subcontractors
  • Monitors progress of construction against the program and takes steps to ensure the program is achieved
  • Review EM Installations in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
  • Resolve on-site issues between trades promptly to maintain productivity
  • Inspect construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards
  • Documenting and reporting progress to stakeholders and adhering to compliance regulations
  • Ensure that all work meets the required quality standards and complies with safety regulations and building codes
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including estimating costs and tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle
  • Address and resolve any issues or delays that arise during construction, implementing improvements as necessary
  • Track progress against the construction programme and flag delays or risks
  • Work closely with planners and project managers to update timelines and milestones
  • Support the planning team in updating schedules and forecasting completion dates
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders regarding project progress and any challenges encountered
  • Ensuring adherence to all health and safety standard and report issues
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to site-specific HSE plan
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Resolve technical and logistical issues on-site to maintain workflow continuity
  • Support procurement and logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
  • Liaise with engineering, procurement, and commissioning teams to ensure readiness of work fronts
