Primary objective
The Prisoner Movement Coordinator is responsible for managing and facilitating the transfer of prisoners between Department of
Corrections facilities. This role involves close collaboration with various Correctional Services teams to ensure the safe, timely and efficient
movement of individuals in custody.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist the Department of Corrections in planning and facilitating the movement of prisoners between correctional facilities within the
Top End region.
2. Develop and deliver prisoner movement plans that meet all relevant criteria, ensuing required information is provided accurately and
in a timely manner, in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all prisoner movements enquiries, providing informed advice and facilitating appropriate support
as needed.
- Monitor prisoner movement and report any issues or concerns to support effective contract management and compliance.
- Design, implement and maintain ongoing processes that promote the safe and efficient management of prisoner movements in
accordance with contractual requirements.
6. Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate prisoner movements and support the achievement of
agreed contractual outcomes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High-level organisational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a
team to deliver high quality outcomes under tight timeframes, while maintaining attention to detail.
2. Demonstrated experience in managing and supporting business processes, including a sound working knowledge systems and
procedures across the justice sector or related operational environments.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, facilitate
cooperation, and coordinate key activities in a proactive and professional manner.
4. Proficiency in the use of operational systems and software, including IOMS and Microsoft Office applications, or equivalent, with the
ability to produce high-level documentation, reports and maintain accurate records.
5. Proven experience in providing high-level administrative support, including the ability to manage sensitive information and contribute
to operational planning and service delivery.
6. Sound understanding of custodial practices and correctional facility operations, with demonstrated experience working within a secure
environment or similar regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a commitment to cultural safety and
inclusion.
Desirable
1. Demonstrated experience in project coordination or supporting senior team members in the delivery of key initiatives, including the
ability to contribute to planning, implementation and reporting activities.
