Every day, Pacific National moves the goods that keep Australia moving – from intermodal containers to coal, steel, and bulk commodities. An opportunity has presented itself for hands-on individuals to join our Townsville team as Wagon Maintainers. You'll be trained by experienced professionals and play a key role in keeping our rollingstock safe, reliable, and ready to roll.

What's on offer:

  • Full-time, permanent role with a stable Monday–Friday dayshift roster
  • Hands-on training and mentoring from experienced maintainers and coordinators
  • Work in a safety-first, team-focused environment
  • Be part of a crew introducing new wagons and technologies

Your day-to-day:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled wagon maintenance and repairs
  • Respond to emergency recoveries on the rail network
  • Operate mobile plant, lifting equipment, and vehicles
  • Carry out welding, cutting, fabrication, and component assembly
  • Support locomotive provisioning and wagon movements
  • Collaborate with planners, contractors, and terminal operators

What you'll bring:

  • Heavy industry trade experience (qualifications a bonus)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and safety mindset
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • C Class Driver's Licence (essential); Forklift/MR Licence (advantageous)
  • Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn
