Aspirante is working with a QLD government organisation to assist in their search for an experienced Platform Engineer to provide high-level technical support and enhancement of a modern Microservice and Event-Driven Platform hosted in the cloud. This platform underpins the organisation's digital transformation and supports scalable, flexible, and customer-driven technology solutions.

In this role, you will work across a contemporary tooling ecosystem—supporting microservices, REST APIs, cloud-native components, and DevOps-aligned automation. You will also take ownership of lifecycle patching across key platform services and ensure the platform remains secure, resilient, and aligned to best practices.

  • Contract through to June 2026 with likely extension
  • Paying market rate
  • 50/50 hybrid setup in Carseldine, Brisbane

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain deep technical knowledge of platform systems, services, and business usage

• Contribute to technical standards, support documentation, and cloud governance

• Build high-quality, DevOps-friendly platform components with scalability, security, and fault tolerance

• Automate manual processes to improve efficiency and reduce delivery risk

• Troubleshoot and resolve support issues in expected timeframes

• Work with QA teams to ensure appropriate unit, integration, and functional test coverage

• Identify risks, issues, and improvement opportunities, escalating where required

• Manage complex changes following ITIL processes

• Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across internal and external teams

• Produce and maintain reference material including network diagrams, work instructions, and training content

• Lead or support lifecycle patching for microservice platform components, including:

 – EKS

 – Trivy

 – Fluentbit

 – kube-bench

 – Metrics Server

 – NGINX Ingress

• Champion cloud best practices and contribute to building cloud capability across the team

• Perform additional duties as required

Requirements

• Experience in at least one of: Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, AWS

• Demonstrated experience in lifecycle patching for microservice platforms

• Knowledge of cloud security best practices

• Strong documentation capabilities

• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team

• AWS Associate or Professional certifications (highly regarded)

• Experience across both public and private sector environments (desirable)
