Bringing together a diverse and vibrant mix of people and cultures, thriving and innovative businesses, and millions of visitors every year, the City of Marion is recognised as a leader in Local Government.

Our four vibrant community centres are dedicated to fostering community engagement and enriching the lives of our residents. We offer a diverse range of programs and activities designed to meet the needs and interests of people from all walks of life.

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and experienced Community Program Officer to help us make a meaningful difference for children and families in our community.

Reporting to the Neighbourhood Centres Coordinator – Programs, you will lead the planning, development, implementation, facilitation, and evaluation of programs specifically tailored for children and families. Guided by current and emerging community needs, and in line with Council's community vision and funding obligations, you will introduce innovative initiatives and ensure our programs are of the highest quality and impact.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Plan, develop, and deliver a vibrant suite of school holiday programs that are engaging, inclusive, and responsive to the needs and interests of children and families in the community.
  • Coordinate and facilitate a variety of weekly programs and community events, fostering participation, connection, and positive experiences for local families.
  • Recruit and supervise program facilitators and volunteers, providing support, training, and guidance to ensure successful delivery.
  • Identify and respond to community needs, developing new programs and initiatives in collaboration with community members and stakeholders.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of program design and delivery.
  • Evaluate and improve programs by gathering feedback, monitoring performance, and making evidence-based recommendations for enhancements.
  • Support the Customer Experience team with customer service tasks, including phone enquiries, venue hire tours, café sales, and program booking administration as required.
  • Maintain program records, prepare reports, and monitor budgets to ensure compliance with funding agreements and reporting obligations.
  • Engage the community by building strong relationships with residents, local organisations, and stakeholders to encourage participation and support.

We welcome applicants with skills in project management, community development, program evaluation, and volunteer supervision. Knowledge and experience in the Community and Neighbourhood Development Program and the broader community centre sector will be highly regarded.

Experience in grant-funded programs, including meeting grant guidelines and reporting requirements, will be an advantage. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, along with the ability to motivate and support others, are essential.
