We are looking for a dedicated Welcome and Engagement Worker to be the approachable and supportive first point of contact for young people accessing our services, helping to foster an inclusive and youth-centred environment.

About the Role

As a Welcome and Engagement Worker, you will:

  • Provide a welcoming and supportive first point of contact for young people at 222 Malop St, tailoring responses to their individual needs.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment, encouraging young people to engage with Meli Youth Services.
  • Facilitate group-based activities focused on increasing pro-social engagement and life skills development.
  • Build and maintain partnerships within the community to expand the network of resources available to young people.
  • Strengthen Meli Youth Services' social media presence to create an engaging online community and ensure accessibility.

This role is central to enhancing the support and engagement experience for young people and contributing to positive outcomes in their lives.

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or Diploma in Community Development, Social Work, Family/Welfare/Youth Work, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in assessing the needs of young people facing complex barriers.
  • Strong proficiency in social media platforms and experience creating engaging, youth-relevant content.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating group-based programs and activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people and stakeholders.
