Simson is one of Australia's top 4 direct to retail Greeting Card Publishers. It has been a market leader in greeting card innovation for over 40 years and is the winner of over 30 Australian & International design awards.

Simson has developed a strong greeting card and packaging business in over 1500 retail stores including significant exposure in all major department stores and employs over 100 people with a salaried sales team located in all mainland capital cities.

Simson are increasing their in house finished artist positions at our Fitzroy based Design Studio.

This is NOT a Graduate Role.

Position Summary:

Full Time Role: Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30 pm

The Graphic Finished Artist will work within our creative team of designers and product managers, based near the heart of Brunswick Street at our Fitzroy Studio in Melbourne's premier creative precinct.

Primary Job Responsibilities will be:

  • Taking both internally and externally produced designs and concepts to finished art ready for print, including foil and emboss embellishments.
  • To follow finished art briefs set by the Product Directors and or Product Managers - achieving the outcomes planned and completed within set timeframes.
  • Producing Marketing & Sales Material to assist the sales team to maximise the company's retail presence.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Hold a Tertiary Degree in Visual Communications and or Graphic Design.
  • Be a skilled Mac Operator with advanced skills in PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  • Have no less than 2 years' experience creating finished art.
  • This is not a Graduate role.
  • This is not a Design role.
  • Knowledge of Greeting Card Industry is not essential, but a good working knowledge of print and the way finished art is prepared for print will be considered an advantage over other candidates.
  • Be a people person and a good communicator
  • Have excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail and the ability to prioritise "what's important now"
  • Have the ability to manage a "full on" workload during peak seasons and be able to juggle many jobs at the one time.
  • Have a willingness to jump in and do the job that needs doing to assist other members of the studio to meet their objectives.
