Front-End Developer (Mid-Level) — React, TypeScript, Node

Chatswood | 5 days on-site | A$110k–$125k + super

Big Wave Digital is recruiting on behalf of a valued game-studio client building web and mobile titles enjoyed across APAC. This is a hands-on front-end role where you'll craft high-performance interfaces, collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers, and ship frequently thanks to solid CI/CD.

NOTE It's a
Mandarin-speaking environment
with tight feedback loops and real player impact.

You'll join a small, experienced team that values clean TypeScript, pragmatic React patterns, and smooth integration with Node services. If you enjoy solving tricky UI/performance problems and seeing your work go live every week, you'll fit right in.

AU work rights are required (no sponsorship).

What you'll do

  • Build and ship production UIs in
    React
    with
    TypeScript
    , integrating with

    services.
  • Contribute to
    CI/CD
    pipelines to keep releases reliable and fast.
  • Solve complex problems (state, performance, real-time interactions).
  • Collaborate daily with designers, backend, and QA , often in
    Mandarin
    .

Must-haves

  • 3+ years
    front-end experience on
    complex software solutions
    (
    not
    a Senior role).
  • Strong
    TypeScript
    fundamentals (types, generics, strict mode).
  • Commercial
    React
    experience (hooks, context, performance) and

    integration.
  • Practical
    CI/CD
    experience (GitHub Actions/GitLab/CircleCI).
  • Mandarin (spoken & written)
    for day-to-day collaboration.
  • AU work rights.

Nice to have

  • Testing with Jest/RTL/Playwright or Cypress.
