Current Opportunities
We have permanent and temporary full time positions available across the following inpatient units at CCLHD:
- Oncology and Palliative Care (Gosford Hospital), full time permanent.
- Maternity Services (Gosford Hospital), full time permanent.
- Geriatrics (Wyong Hospital), full time temporary up to 28th July 2026.
About the Roles
In these vital roles, you will draw on your understanding of the complex emotional and social challenges that come with both acute and chronic illness. You will:
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments.
- Provide crisis support and short-term interventions tailored to individuals and their support systems.
- Collaborate within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

These full-time inpatient positions offer the chance to deepen your expertise and broaden your experience across a wide range of social work practices in the hospital setting. From providing emotional support through grief and loss, to working closely with families and carers, and helping patients navigate transitions within the healthcare system, you will play a central role in supporting patients and their families during some of life's most challenging moments.

About You
You have:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (overseas qualifications must supply the AASW Overseas Assessment number). A demonstrated understanding of the current AASW Practice Standards as they relate to Inpatient Social Work.
- A well-developed understanding of the psychosocial issues that arise for patients and their families during chronic and acute illness and trauma. Preferably demonstrated social work experience in the clinical specialty area where applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in providing psychosocial assessment and crisis management, within person centred, trauma informed and brief intervention models and preferably within a health clinical setting and or within the clinical specialty where applicable.
