Blaster/Painter Technician (Casual)

Role:

JWS are recruiting for a Blaster/Painter Technician to join our SIMS (structural remediation crew). We have a long-term contract for ongoing maintenance and shutdown works in the Southwest region.

Roster:

  • Dayshift: 7 days on – 7 days off roster

  • 12hrs shifts

  • Drive IN - Drive OUT

  • Immediate start required

We are looking for individuals with structural remediation experience who thrive on working in team environments and developing collectively.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Blasting & Painting Trade Cert or relevant industry experience

  • Valid Driving License

  • HRW License – EWP, Rigging or Dogging

  • Working at Heights (within 2 years)

  • Confined Space (within 2 years)

  • Construction Induction Card (White or Blue card)

  • Rigging and Forklift tickets would be beneficial

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and site medical testing

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Surface preparation of steel structures using abrasive blasting, high-pressure washing, or mechanical methods (grinding, needle gunning, etc.)

  • Application of protective coatings (e.g. epoxy, polyurethane, zinc primers) to structural steel to prevent corrosion and meet specification standards

  • Working at heights, on scaffolding or EWP (Elevated Work Platforms), to access structural components

  • Ensuring all surface prep and painting meet client and coating specification requirements (e.g. DFT, WFT, profile readings)

  • Touch-up and repair of coating systems during or post-installation
