About the Role

This
6-month, 2-day-per-week internship
provides hands-on exposure to
accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
within a professional services environment. While this is an
unpaid internship
, successful interns may be considered for
paid employment opportunities
at The Ark.

You will gain valuable experience in day-to-day financial operations, compliance, and client support, with direct mentoring from qualified accountants and advisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, including journals, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Support bookkeeping tasks such as accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking.
  • Help prepare management accounts, BAS/IAS, and other compliance documents.
  • Contribute to end-of-month and end-of-year reporting processes.
  • Conduct basic financial analysis to support client advisory projects.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and assist with maintaining accounting systems (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks).
  • Collaborate with team members on process improvements and internal projects.

Qualifications & Ideal Attributes

  • Currently studying or recently completed a degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets; exposure to accounting software is an advantage.
  • Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced professional environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
