To be considered for this contract you will need to be an Australian citizen and have a NV1 security clearance in place as a minimum. Contract is due to commence in November 2025.

Defence's DEF2064 project is delivering technology, data, services and tools, synchronising GEOINT consumers with GEOINT producers and supporting Defence's Single Information Environment. This project has since transitioned into sustainment with the ongoing sustainment and enhancements being driven by core principals and decisions driven by data to meet the demands of a constantly changing GEOINT environment.

In this role, you will be required to provide competence and skills to continue the development of the Cloud Services platform, AWS workloads and data pipelines within the Defence Unclassified, Protected, Secret and/or TS environments delivered under DEF2064 Phase 3.

Some of the key tasks will include:

  • Provide engineering solutions that demonstrate awareness of dependencies and the need to collaborate and integrate with partner agencies and strategic industry partners.
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
  • Participate in the review of externally developed test plans and procedures to ensure integration with requirements and verification processes.
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers and other relevant stakeholders to implement those fixes.
  • Ensure that the testing and handover of implemented solutions are conducted as per organisational standards, therefore reducing the risk and adverse impact of change.

As the ideal candidate you will have the following skills:

  • Extensive experience in Cloud Domain Solution Architecture capacity (AWS) across both infrastructure and application side of Cloud solution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in AWS security features and best practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in AWS implementation for elasticity and scalability.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in AWS self-healing techniques, fault-tolerant services and disaster recovery and fail-over strategies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in deployment and management within AWS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in general ICT particularly distributed systems and multi-tier architectures.

Desirable skills

  • Experience using and managing Hydrographic software such as CARIS.
  • Experience and understanding of Geospatial systems and technologies.
  • AWS certifications will be well regarded. AWS Certifications will be viewed favourably as evidence supporting claims of competency but are not essential.
