About the Role

The Director, Election Programme is a newly created position responsible for planning and delivering NSW Electoral Commission's election specific programmes.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Elections Group, as a strong strategic leader, you will develop programme plans and ensure their successful implementation with a range of project managers supporting you.

As well as responding to immovable deadlines and working within complex and changing regulatory requirements, you will also lead, mentor and manage a team of project managers and key project resources through the end-to-end process of delivering the election.

You are a credible and seasoned leader, who can confidently provide trust, expert advice and support to key internal stakeholders and project teams. You will build strong productive relationships and accurately manage expectations, whilst ensuring high-quality project management governance, compliance and practices in line with the NSW Electoral Commission's programme management methodology and framework.

The role is temporary full-time until 30th June 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in the end-to-end management of large-scale programmes with a lot of complexity and large budgets ($150m+).
  • In-depth understanding of programme and project management disciplines (risk and issues management, schedule management, dependencies, benefits management, resource demand / supply management, continuous improvement, etc.).
  • Worked within an EPMO or PMO providing services to organisation-wide programmes and projects.
  • Experience in reporting into a senior steering committee, including Senior Executives up to CEO level.
  • Collaborative and confident communicator who is comfortable facilitating workshops to achieve required outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record check result.
  • No affiliations with political parties, candidates, elected members, third-party campaigners, donors or registered lobbyists that could undermine the political impartiality of the Commission or that are otherwise inconsistent with its Political Neutrality Policy.
