Do you have a keen eye for infrastructure asset data and a passion for improving community outcomes through smart planning? We're seeking a motivated and detail-driven individual to join our team as a Roads Asset Technical Officer.

Your opportunity:

As a Roads Asset Technical Officer, you will play a critical role in the improvement and maintenance of asset data, ensuring it supports long-term planning, accurate condition reporting, and effective delivery of capital works.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the development, integration and maintenance of asset data for roads and drainage infrastructure.
  2. Administer rolling asset condition programs to support predictive modelling and long-term planning.
  3. Analyse asset performance to inform renewal programs and capital works planning.
  4. Develop procedures to collect and update asset data in line with Council's Strategic Asset Management Plan.
  5. Identify unregistered assets and assess financial implications.
  6. Assist with inspections, capital planning, and public transport coordination.
  7. Respond to customer enquiries and assist with requests in line with Council policy and legislation.
  8. Support grant applications, procurement processes, and project delivery where required.

Your skills and experience:

Essential

  1. Current C class drivers licence.
  2. IPWEA Professional Certificate in Asset Management Planning (or equivalent) or at least 2 years experience developing technical documentation for infrastructure projects and asset management.
  3. Strong technical knowledge of transport, stormwater, and coastal infrastructure (e.g. roads, pavements, stormwater drainage, retaining walls, footpaths, guardrails, bridges, car parks, boat ramps).
  4. Demonstrated understanding of strategic asset management principles and practices.
  5. Demonstrated experience in using relevant standards such as Austroads, QUDM and Australian Standards.
  6. Demonstrated advance computer literacy, with the ability to utilise financial, records management, project management, asset management and Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  8. Ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  9. Knowledge of GIS, asset management systems, and infrastructure planning

Desirable

  1. Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering, Business or related discipline.
  2. Demonstrated experience with drafting/design packages such as AutoCad, 12D, VISSIM, MUSIC
  3. Demonstrated experience with QGIS, Mapinfo or other mapping software with translatable skills
