Job Description
MacDougall & Hydes Lawyers is a specialist criminal defence firm based in Sydney. We are seeking a motivated law graduate or student to undertake their
Practical Legal Training (PLT) placement
with our team. This is an unpaid part time position, with the potential for future opportunities for the right candidate.

About The Role
The successful applicant will gain hands-on experience in criminal law and court practice. You will work closely with solicitors on active matters and develop the practical skills required to transition into legal practice. Duties may include:

  • Assisting solicitors with court preparation and legal research
  • Drafting and proofing legal documents and correspondence
  • Attending court and observing proceedings
  • Liaising with clients and counsel under supervision
  • General administrative and file management tasks

About You

  • Completed a law degree (or close to completion)
  • Strong interest in criminal defence law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work as part of a team
  • Professional, reliable, and eager to learn
