Primary objective

The Team Leader Targeted Intervention provides leadership to the Program Facilitators in the Targeted Intervention Unit. This position

has a strong focus on the delivery of high-quality adult prisoner psycho-educational program services including the effective scheduling

and delivery of all psycho-educational programs to prisoners.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. The Team Leader will be responsible for scheduling psycho-education programs in consultation with the Manager Targeted

Intervention.

2. Lead a team of Program Facilitators and develop team and individual capability by leveraging strengths and providing opportunities

for professional growth.

3. Plan, coordinate and monitor the day-to-day provision of psycho-educational programs to prisoners within the correctional centre and

assist in delivering services as required to ensure appropriate resourcing and consistent delivery.

  1. Provide mentoring and coaching to Program Facilitators as well as guidance, allocating day to day activities / operations, observing

and verifying the quality of work to facilitate delivery of programs.

  1. Ensure accurate recording of program data both statistical data as well as case notes and other reports.

  2. Address challenges and barriers to program delivery through sound communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in delivering group or individually orientated behavioural change programs.

2. Sound written communication skills, showcasing the capacity to generate high-quality and review reports and case notes.

3. Strong working knowledge of correctional services and contemporary service delivery models, particularly regarding program delivery

and their impact on prisoner rehabilitation and reintegration.

4. Ability to work as a member of a team and demonstrated experience providing mentoring and coaching to staff to motivate and drive

performance.

  1. Knowledge of strengths-based approaches and motivational interviewing techniques to support and encourage behaviour change.
  2. Understanding of government and non-government agencies, support services and community groups, Aboriginal and other

organisations interfacing with Correctional Services, together with an understanding of their impact on the development and delivery

of correctional services.

  1. Demonstrate sound communication skills including conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to resolve barriers and challenges and

drive outcomes.

  1. Demonstrated experience in the recording, collection and analysis of data to report on key performance indicators.

Desirable

1. Completed or currently undertaking relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Community Services, Social Work, Community Development,

and Psychology/Criminology).
